The purpose of this study is to investigate and understand change patterns of participants in group bibliotherapy. For this purpose, individual interviews were conducted with 14 adults who were chosen by the best bibliotherapists through peer nomination and the results were analyzed by grounded theory(Strauss & Corbin, 1996), which is one sort of qualitative research method. The main results of this study were as follows: First, data analyses result in 82 concepts, 40 subcategories, and 15 categories. Second, change patterns of participants were ¡®active problem-solving type¡¯, ¡®resistance type¡¯, ¡®investigation type¡¯ and ¡®wait-and-see type¡¯. Each type showed different intensities of ¡®pain of life¡¯ and different degrees of ¡®desires for veriation¡¯. Accordingly, they solved the problem at different times by type. Based on this study, I suggested that could help clients grow and change in counseling and about a follow-up study. This study has a significant meaning to provide a foundation of understanding of group bibliotherapy by exploring participants¡¯ experiences in depth through grounded theory approach and revealing the change patterns of group bibliotherapy.
